Drama & Technical Theater

DRAMA

MPA Drama is where the skills from all of the other performing arts classes collide. The longest running class of all the performing arts classes, drama students have learned skills from the other three classes and is the foundational class for all MPA theatrical productions. In December, the drama class performed A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This May, drama students, in addition to students from other performing arts classes, will perform the Broadway hit Annie! Come see our students as you never have before as all of the characters you know and love from this family favorite!

Our Technical Theater / Theater Management class is learning stagecraft, stage management and theater management. This semester they learned how to design promotional posters, logos and websites. Scarlett Trieu designed this one!

This class designed the sets for Annie and are in charge of ensuring the show runs smoothly. Give it up for Technical Theater!

DANCE

This semester, Dance has been working on several styles of dance including ballet, lyrical, West African, jazz, hip-hop and stepping. Students performed for the Black History Month assemblies here at MPA and at Fremont High School and will perform again for our upcoming Performing Arts Share Day.

CHOIR

The Choir class has been working on music from around the world. The languages they have sung in include Hawaiian, Zulu, Spanish, English and a dialect from Cameroon. In addition to singing, all Choir students are learning how to sight read simple melodies. I am Sol (musical pun intended) proud of them!
